Whitney Corrine Wetmore, a woman who lit up every room—sometimes literally with her fire poi—passed away unexpectedly on December 16th 2024, leaving a hole in our lives that no amount of glitter, crafts, or sarcastic jokes can ever fill. She will be forever 30, a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend to many. She never stopped worrying about the people she loved, even when we insisted we were fine (spoiler: we usually weren’t).

Whitney was the proud wife of Aaron, her partner-in-crime and the love of her life, and the devoted mother to her greatest joy, her son, Asher. Whether teaching him something crafty or just making him laugh, Whitney poured her heart and soul into motherhood with unmatched love and creativity.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Aaron, her son, Asher, two brothers, Michael and Jay, with whom she shared the classic sibling relationship: equal parts “I love you” and “I will fight you right now.” Though they bickered like cats and dogs, they loved fiercely, always showing up for one another when it mattered most. Whitney’s memories will also be held close by her niece, Carolann, two nephews, Kai and Carson. A special Uncle Eddie and cousin, Josh, whom she enjoyed cooking and brining dinners for. Two of her closest friends, Bryana and Chastity, that held a special place in her life and her heart.

Whitney’s talents were as bright as the fire she danced with. She enjoyed the art of poi, captivating audiences with her light shows and fiery displays. She could also be found channeling her creativity into crafts that put Pinterest to shame. She had an eye for beauty and a knack for making something out of nothing, whether it was a heartfelt gift or an unforgettable memory.

Known as the “mom” of her friend group, Whitney worried about everyone as if they were her own. Her hugs that could cure any bad day, and her endless concern for the well-being of those around her were just a few of the ways she made everyone feel cared for.

Whitney is proceeded in death by her twin sister, Corey, her mother, Carolann, her father, Darren, grandmother, Shirley, and grandfather, George.  We can’t help but find some comfort in knowing she is reunited with them now. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the laughter of her and Corey coming from heaven. Don’t listen for too long though, the laughter will turn into yelling in less than 2 minutes. You can almost feel the warmth knowing that her mom and dad are offering her a hug that she has been longing for. Together again, they are surely watching over us, their love eternal.

While her time with us was far too short, Whitney’s light will never truly be extinguished. It lives on in her husband and son, in the laughter of her brothers, and in the hearts of her friends who were lucky enough to call her family. It will continue to shine and remind us to dance through life with passion, to care for others deeply, love fiercely, always find beauty in the little things, and maybe to even throw a little fire in the mix.

In her honor, we ask that you hug your loved ones a little tighter, craft something outrageous, or worry excessively about your friends for just one day—because that’s what Whitney would’ve done.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will shine on in the hearts of those who love her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 2-4pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 4pm with Bro. Alan Fisher officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes be directed to Whitney’s funeral fund at Southern Oaks to assist with expenses. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
