Everett Clifford West 85, passed from this life on August 31, 2024 in the care of Hospice at Lake Cumberland Regional. He was born on August 26, 1939 to Delmar and Coletta West of Pulaski County. Everett leaves behind his beloved wife Betty, whom he married on February 25, 1957. He is survived by two sons, Anthony West of Somerset, Maurice (M.E.) West (Christy) of Shepherdsville, and a daughter, Dinah Meade of Somerset. He also has several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two daughters, Vivian Scott and Karen West, his daughter-in-law Annette West, his first grandson Jamie Troxell, one brother, Robert and 2 sisters, Evalene and Delilah. Everett was known for his outstanding personality. He loved people and enjoyed conversation; he never met a stranger. He also loved to write, publishing many articles and a book. He shared several stories of family history and life experiences in magazines, newspapers and Kentucky Explorer. Everett loved making new friends. A treasure of memories filled up his life as the family shared their love and musical talent with many throughout the years. Singing and being gifted to play different instruments led to years of providing musical entertainment and sharing the gospel. Everett learned to play a guitar as a young teenager and his love for music became a lifelong passion and tradition. He and the family traveled near and far to churches, rest homes, radio stations, T.V. Programs, Bluegrass F festivals, performing in numerous shows and events. He loved making music with his boys (M.E. and Tony) and all of his music playing buddy’s. He leaves a legacy in the hearts of many and will be dearly missed. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Southern Oakes Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 P.M. with Bro. Robert Bell officiating. Burial will be held in Beech Grove Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Everett was a great and talented man. He will be missed dearly. I enjoyed my times with him many years ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, which is like family to me as well still. With my sincere condolences,
