It is impossible to attempt to list here are all of Raina’s dear friends, but special mention should be made of the “UK Besties.”
It is common for people to marvel at Raina’s ability to talk to anyone and make them feel immediately as though they had been friends with her for years. Her love for others was not superficial – she loved deeply and showed her love with action. Her ability and Godly desire to walk closely with others through their lives; during joy, difficulty, and just the day-to-day was one of her many spiritual gifts.
Raina’s love for God was inspirational to all that she touched, either in person or online and her ministry began long before her cancer diagnosis as so many can attest. However, after her diagnosis she became even more focused on using the trial God allowed in her life to glorify Christ and tell as many people as she could about Him. Of all the scripture and sayings, she quoted and posted, two that stand out are “Pray and do the next thing” and “Eyes on You” – which she derived from the account of the Apostle Peter walking on the water, as long as his eyes were on Jesus.
Eyes on You Ministries became her missionary effort, as she desired to minister to cancer patients whom she met at clinics who didn’t have the immense support system she did – but she wanted to give even more. It was then that Hope 7:12 became her service effort. Hope 7:12 is a non-profit organization created to provide explicitly Christian support and counselling for those walking through similar storms of their own.
Raina Simpson was an incredible wife, mother, and friend. Her absence from this Earth will be felt by all who knew her. Raina lived with Christ Jesus at the center of her life. She desired for all who knew her to come to know Jesus. She finished the Race. She kept the Faith. Her work is done. Her pain is over. She is finally in the presence of her Savior.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those funds be donated to Hope 7:12.
Pallbearers: Seth Smith, Logan Smith, David Mattingly, Shaun Hord, Scott Hord, Adam Braun, Jimmy Franklin Honorary Pallbearers: Frankie Hansford, Rodney Henry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 3 to 9pm at Grace Baptist Church.
Visitation will resume on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11am at the church with a funeral service to begin at 2pm with Dr. Todd Meadows and Pastor Bill Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Raina Brooke Simpson.
Raina is an inspiration to me and she was to my husband, Doug who died from cancer 9-04-19. She prayed with hands in the air at the gym with us both one day asking for God’s complete healing on his life. I will never forget her boldness. She and I built a unique friendship at the gym and outside its walls that touched my life in a beautiful way. She was remarkable to all around her because of her faith in Christ during her illness. I am thankful to know her.
Raina was a Ray of light and Hope to all who knew her. I am a better person just by being in her sweet Holy Spirit filled presence. My love and heartfelt prayers for her beautiful family. I loved her so much,
Best,
Rhonda Guilbeaux RN
Raina was a true servant and warrior for God. Her testimony and strong faith never waivered. I met her through a mutual friend, sharing dinner and lots of laughs. Always a smile on her face, thinking of others and chatting about the Lord–that’s what I will remember most. Prayers for Dustin, their 3 beautiful boys and her entire family.
Rest in peace Raina – you always had a Huge smile and a radiant light!
I referred to Raina as a Warrior Princess for King Jesus! She was a shining light of love to everyone she met. I will miss her radiant smile and wonderful laugh.
Charlie and I will cover Dustin, Judah, Deacon, Titus, and her family in our prayers for comfort and strength in the weeks ahead.
We feel so richly blessed to say we knew this beautiful princess who was indeed a ray of sunshine.
I never met Raina in person. I have followed her for years as she posted her journey with cancer. Her love for Jesus and her ability to share so openly about her suffering was incredible. She seemed to never take her eyes off of Jesus despite her fears, questions, and her lack of answers. That impacted me the most. Her love for scripture and her passion for staying close to God was so inspiring. I am sorry that she was not healed here on earth. I will remember your family when I am praying. Raina was a special person and she will be missed.
The universe has gained Angel. With a very heavy heart I send my condolences to the family, especially her husband and three young sons.
I wish I could eradicate this cancer from all.
May you rest and shine your light and love on those here on earth.
