George Bob Marshall, age 79 of Somerset, KY., formerly of Lexington, KY passed away on Monday February 2, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on August 21, 1935 in Georgetown, KY to the late George and Ruby True Marshall.
He was a lifetime resident of Lexington, KY before moving to Somerset, KY five years ago. He was the former owner and operator of Bob’s Sign Service before retiring. George attended Science Hill Nazarene Church. He loved being on the water. Houseboated on the Kentucky River and Lake Cumberland all of his life. He was an avid Nascar fan and loved classic cars.
George is preceded in death by his parents George and Ruby Marshall.
He is survived by his wife; Redith Pauline Marshall of whom he married on February 16, 1956 in Lexington, KY. He is also survived by two sons; Donald Ray (and Sherri) Marshall and Gary Wayne (and Kenva) Marshall, three grandchildren; Natalie (and husband Jimmy) Franklin, Brice Marshall, and Tanner Marshall, and one great-grandchild; Myles Alexander Franklin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 4, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Another visitation will be held on Thursday February 5, 2015 from 10:30am to 2:30pm in the Chapel of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home located on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday February 5, 2015 at 2:30pm in the Chapel of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home located on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY with Rev. Curtis Sellers officiating.
Pall Bearers will include; Timmy Gears. Larry Gears, Brice Marshall, Tanner Marshall, Mike Irwin, and Rick Barton.
Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery located on Versailles Road in Lexington, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation in C/O of Southern Oaks Funeral Home 2110 West Hwy 914 Somerset, KY 42503.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Bob,
prayers go out to the family. Because of Bob i would not be were i am today because of him. My twin brother and i worked with bob in the sign buisness. I thank god that had a chance to learn from one of the best sign man in the usa. We love you Bob with all our hearts
and when people ask me how did you learn to do that or how did you
get so good in working with signs i would say because of Bob Marshall
