I always enjoyed all of the articles written by Mr. Mardis in the Commonwealth Journal. He really had a gift for writing. He will be greatly missed by everyone in Pulaski County. Linda, I am so sorry for your loss.
I always trusted what Bill Marcus wrote. His integrity in journalism drew my highest respect. I put him a class with Walter Cronkite. The news will never be the same. As a point of reference, my father ran Harry’s Market downtown. I always looked forward to the Saturday history section as frequently Mr Mardis would make reference to Dad’s store. Shoes have been left that will never be filled. God bless.
So sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. Maurice Frank Boston (a former neighbor) is saddened by Bill’s death. He spoke very kind words when told of it. God bless each of the family.
A nice man and a good friend, He will be greatly missed.
I was very sad to hear of the death of Bill Mardis. I work downtown and always enjoyed seeing him walking back and forth to his office. He always looked so dignified, dressed in a suit and tie, walking with a measured steady pace. His columns were unique and refreshing. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I will long remember that dear gentleman making his way along the sidewalk of downtown Somerset. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family.
Linda and family, i am saddened by Bill’s passing but we rejoice that he is at Home with the Father. It was an honor to work with this icon for 15 years. He was a mentor, a friend, and a brother in Christ.
So sorry Linda and family to hear of Bills passing. Know you are looking forward to seeing him in the resurrection 😢
