John Franklin Lewis Jr., age 79 of Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on June 27, 2026.
He was born on May 20, 1947. He was the son of the late John Franklin Lewis Sr. and step-mother Mary Etta.
John formerly worked for Institutional Distributors and Laurel County Middle School. He faithfully attended Tateville Baptist Church. His favorite scripture was Matthew 5:1-9. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the flea market, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by: his father John Franklin Lewis Sr., step-mother Mary Etta Lewis, brother William “Bill” Lewis, and sisters Connie Lewis-Hopper (Monty) and Kimberley Lewis.
He is survived by his wife Beverley Lewis; two sons, Tom Lewis (Lesley) and Kevin Lewis (Courtney); one daughter, Lisa Riley (Mike); two sisters, Arlene Bates (Buddy) and Janet Mullins (Rick); two brothers, Tim Lewis and Ronnie Lewis (Margaret); sister-in-law Yolonda Lewis; four grandchildren, Christian Lewis, Grae Lewis, Maryn Lewis and Lucian Lewis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 11, at Tateville Baptist Church in Tateville, Kentucky. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., with a tribute service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Tateville Baptist Church and/or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
