Craig “Mike” Stephen Burrell Sr., age 76, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Craig was born on August 8, 1949 to the late Frank A. Burrell and Mildred Elliott Burrell in Corning, New York.
He was a member of Groveport Baptist Church in Groveport, Ohio. He enjoyed avidly hunting, trapping and fishing. He loved living and raising his family in Alaska while serving his country, as well as traveling the country with his wife after retirement. Most of all he cherished his family. He proudly served his country for 27 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served 20 years in civil service in the Army Corps of Engineers, where he retired.
Craig leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years Martha Jane Burrell, son Craig Stephen Burrell Jr. (Stacy) of Somerset; daughter Amy Lynn Mathews (Richard) of Ferry, WV; brother Frank Burrell (Teardra) and sister Marcia Stevens (Edward) all of Corning, NY; grandchildren Stephen T. Burrell (Charli) of Spokane, WA; Garrett R. Mathews of Harpers Ferry, WV and T.J. Burrell of Somerset, Ky.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 11am in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Brad Gover officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38.
