Mary Shannon Baker, age 57, of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Jean Waddle Care Center.
Mary was born on February 2, 1969 to the late Dusty Sill and Nancy Baker in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was of the Baptist faith. She loved music, was very into country rap and they adopted her as their family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and it brought her great joy. She was one of a kind, big hearted, and had quick wit.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Van Baker III (whom she joined in heaven).
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Joshua Baker of Ashland, Ky, daughters: Jessica McLin (Derrick) and Beth Daulton both of Science Hill, Ky; the love of her life, Chuck Girdler of Bronston; stepson Michael Girdler (Angela Campbell) and stepdaughter Airell Johnson (Derrick) both of Bronston, grandchildren: Caitlyn, Caleb, Harper, Blake, Kaylie, Leah, Bri, Peyton, Paul, Makayla, Sara, Mariah and Kendra; her brothers and sisters; along with close family, Jamie Mercer, Savannah, Hunter and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary Shannon Baker Memorial Fund. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mary Shannon Baker.
