Paul Dean Simpson of the Betsey/Meadow Creek community passed away at his home on October 8, 2026, at the age of 84.
He was born on October 28, 1941, to Dean and Mazie (Barnett) Simpson. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Lloyd and Mack Simpson.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Watkins) Simpson, of 62 years, one daughter, Laura LaShel (Mark) Hodges, one Son, Daron Scott (Jennifer) Simpson, 2 grandchildren, Chelsea (Jacob) Bridges, Zachary, (Nikki) Simpson and 2 great grandchildren, Jaci Bridges, Grayson Simpson and 1 brother, Curtis Jack (Deevon) Simpson.
After his father passed and his mother became very ill, he and his brother were taken to the Masonic Home in Louisville where he grew up. He graduated from Wagner High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He went on and graduated from Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green Kentucky.
He taught for 3 years at Wayne County High School. He then started working for the state as a Regional Director for the Department of Social Insurance, where he retired.
He was saved at a young age while living at the Masonic Home in Louisville Kentucky. He was a member of the Meadow Creek Baptist Church where he raised his children. He served as a Decon, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study teacher and preached some services. He was very knowledgeable of the Bible and enjoyed talking to others about God and Salvation. He also preached at other churches when asked.
On May 4, 2016, he became a member at Faith Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for the past 10 years.
He was a Mason of the Wayne County Masonic Lodge # 431.
He loved being outside where he built several rock walls around his home, his flower gardens and for other people. He was a talented wood worker and made several beautiful pieces of furniture. He also loved helping others by helping to build their homes and making repairs on their homes and helping with landscaping. He enjoyed working with mom in their flower gardens. He could make anything grow. He enjoyed riding all types of motorcycles and being on the lake fishing and skiing with his family.
Per his request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers/gifts, please make donations to the Mark Hodges Scholarship Fund in care of the Wayne County High School, Masons, Gideons or Hospice.
He was a good Christian man and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
