Betty Lou Weatherford Meece, age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at her home.
Betty was born in Eubank, Kentucky, December 9, 1946, to the late Minifee Whitis and Lillie Harper Whitis.
She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Piney Grove #1 Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and going to church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and watching birds. Most of all she cherished her family.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Weatherford, her late husband, George “Butch” Weatherford, brothers: Emmitt Whitis, Ellis Whitis, Bruce Whitis, Everett Whitis, Raymond Whitis, and Audie Whitis, sisters: Jessie Poynter, Lavonne Poynter, and Gertrude Simms, grandchildren: Ashley Weatherford-Calhoun, Kyle Weatherford, and Kody Weatherford.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Claude Meece, sons: Bobby Whitis of Somerset and Ricky Weatherford (Shirley) of Burnside, Ky; daughter Katrena Weatherford (Wesley) of Eubank, Ky; brothers: Wayne Whitis (Velva) and Junior Whitis (Sandy), sisters: Evelene Phelps and JoAnn New; grandchildren: Allen Price (Jennifer), Chris Price (Jessica), Sumer Weatherford (Holli), Devin Weatherford (Samantha), Nathaniel Whitis, Shawn Whitis (Tiffany), Micky Calhoun; great-grandchildren: Alexis Chaney (Dee), Lily Calhoun, Krista Calhoun, Abbinee Price, Bexleigh Price, Brett Whitis, Mason Whitis, Jayden Price, Alex Price, Corbyn Price, Cole Weatherford, Eva Weatherford, Noah Weatherford, Reed Weatherford, Bo Weatherford; along with great-great grandchildren: Mateo Palmer and Emerson McDonald.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 5pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 12pm at the funeral home with
Bro. Doug Eggers and Bro. Jordan Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.
