Kathy Lynn Berens, age 78 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
She was born on February 12, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Matthew and Shirley Kemp Mancz. She was of the Catholic faith and attended St Mildred Catholic Church. Kathy dearly loved her children and she was a lover of animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, her animals, watching sports and playing board games. Whether it was her children, her brothers and sisters, dear friends, or the animals she cared for, Kathy loved those she considered “family” with her whole heart. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Lee Berens who passed in 2022; and a brother, Brian Mancz. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Melissa (Craig) Lancaster of Somerset, Kelley (Jeff) Hoffman of Wisconsin, and Jennifer (Jonathan) Lang of Fort Thomas, KY; brothers, Barry (Debbie) Mancz of Kettering, OH, Matthew (Cathy) Mancz of Dayton, OH, and Bruce (Linda) Mancz of Arcanum, OH; sisters, Beth (Ed) Fogarty and Lisa (Kevin) Kirkendall, both of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Jace Lancaster, Caden Lancaster, Ella Lancaster, and Piper Lang; brother-in-law, Alan Berens of Kettering, OH, and sister-in-law, Mary Beth Mancz.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH. Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Avenue, Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St Jude, St Vincent de Paul, or any animal care organization of your choice.
