Ruby Jean Smith, age 61 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, October 30, 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born on July 24, 1965 in Nicholasville, Kentucky, daughter of the late James W. and Gladys Baker Smith.
Ruby was a talented hairstylist and of the Christian faith. She enjoyed watching television, especially soap operas, visiting the lake, and shopping. She loved others unconditionally and was always ready to lend a helping hand and found pleasure in making people laugh. Most of all she loved and cherished her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thomas C. Smith; and a sister, Mary L. Decker.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Donald Jefferson Smith; three sons, Joshua Lewis Smith, and Kenny J.B. Smith, and Donald Jefferson Smith, all of Somerset; daughter, Jennifer Reed (Christopher) of Germany; granddaughter, Cali Smith; brother, James W. Smith (Sherri) of Stanford; sisters, Patsy A. Bennett (John) of Nicholasville; and Wanda S. Blevins of Somerset.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
