Wilma Jean Johnson, age 90 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
She was born on December 29, 1933 in Wheelwright, Kentucky, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Cook. She was a loving mother and faithful wife. Wilma enjoyed crocheting, working, and solving puzzles and going to yard sales. She was also an avid fan of Elvis.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gregory Johnson and a sister, Ruth Morford.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Virgil Johnson; a son, Michael R Johnson of Somerset; daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Fairfax, Virginia, and Jean Johnson Cofer of Georgia; brother, Raymond Cook of Tennessee; sister, Betty Chopper of Tennessee; grandchildren, Crystal and Matt Dooley of North Carolina, Heather Johnson of Indiana, Corey and Jessica Johnson of Georgia, Katherine and Jeremy Rowland of South Carolina, Joshua Smoot of Virginia and Gracie Smoot of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Liam, Avery, Bennett and Everett; a close friend, Connie Senter and a host of friends and other family members.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Such a sweet soul she was! I met her in 2022 after the East Ky floods and she was telling me all about her East Ky roots. An amazing woman!
