Ms. Judith Ann Snedegar, age 62, of Somerset, KY, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with the additional care of Hospice of Lake Cumberland, after a lengthy battle of liver failure disease. She was born on April 9, 1963 in Montgomery County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late Bill and Stella Fugate Snedegar.
Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ted Snedegar, two sisters, Bonnie Peake and Rosa Mathews.   She is survived by her brothers, John Snedegar and Bobby Snedegar.
Judith was blessed with an additional family that loved her dearly and immersed her into their family the last seven years of her life.  She called them her adoptive family. She adopted them and they adopted her. She is survived by: Momma Bernice Engle, Lynn Ashbrook, Ronda Boyd (Dave aka Pops to Judith), Becky Pittman (Larry), Kathy Dick (Ed), John Engle, Dan Engle (Ann), Diane Hunt, Francisco Gomez, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews.
Judith was full of life, being very vibrant and happy, laughed much even when her health started failing her.  She loved shopping, eating out, playing corn hole, bowling, going to the movies, attending plays, weddings, going to concerts, attending holiday dinners and birthday parties, dinner parties at the country club with Lynn, Holly Whitaker and Tonya Baird; eating at restaurants with friends, dressing up for occasions such as Halloween, hunting Easter eggs, making crafts, painting on canvases, playing Bingo and was a champion UNO Queen.
She loved traveling and vacations.  She went to Florida and flew on an airplane for the first time; loved Gatlinburg, Nashville, Bowling Green, Cincinnati and numerous Lexington trips.
The Tim Tebow Foundation prom and the Miss Possibilities events were two of her cherished activities.  She loved to dress up in glitz, dance, and embraced any opportunity to do so.  She attended one year with her friend Sheryl Polk and loved to walk the red carpet.  She loved getting manicures and pedicures as often as she could.  Judith was a lover of butterflies and an avid collector of such.
She was a Christian and loved to attend church at New Direction Worship Center. She volunteered at her church where she assisted with set-up of events; and helped with craft supplies for the children’s ministry department.   Judith loved to sing and sang the song Amazing Grace at her church, as a duet with Lynn Ashbrook, within a few weeks of joining her adoptive family.  Judith loved to sing and sang in the car and at home, as they listened to her prized station:  K-Love and Elvis Presley.  She loved the ladies ministries at her church and all the activities it presented especially the parties, and  spring and fall conferences.  She loved traveling to Lexington with the ladies for bi-monthly conferences at Tates Creek Family Worship Center and couldn’t wait to see minister, Amy Adkins.  Judith loved to dress up wearing a hat for the Derby themed garden parties, and attended the ladies Christmas tea’s each year.
She volunteered with Lynn Ashbrook for the Pulaski County/Somerset Habitat for Humanity which included:  Home for the Holidays home tours; Promoting awareness at local restaurants handing out Habitat literature;  and The Lake Cumberland 4K Run fundraisers.  She dressed up as a cheerleader and cheered the runners on, as they neared the finish line.
Her treasured volunteer work was with Kathy Dick, owner of Premier Properties of Lake Cumberland, Inc.  Judith wore her special made name tag with pride as she greeted clients, agents and did various activities.  Her joy while volunteering was eating lunch with Kathy.  Judith told everyone about her wonderful position there.  She looked forward to it as it gave her purpose.
Judith loved people and made friends easily. It was evident, as she was greeted out in the community, church and neighborhood by many friends she made from current and previous years.  It was customary for her adoptive family to say, “Judith you need to run for a political office.  Everyone knows you.” The special part is if you met her and became her friend, you were a friend for life.  She also attended CAKY and Serenity Foundations Adult Day Training for many years, where she was a greeter and worked at the front desk.
Judith loved animals and always embraced an opportunity to buy them a treat or toy.  Her favorites were Sassy, Stella and Mr. Pickles the cats, and dogs:  Doc, Luna, Sissy, Lucy, Annabelle, Nora and Bokah.  She loved to hold and play with them at each of her caregivers and friends homes.  They became her pets.
Judith was a giver.  She made crafts, painted pictures and collected Happy Meal toys to give as a gift to the children at church and in her neighborhood.  She absolutely loved babies and children. She spent her money on animal treats for those loved animals in her life, and purchased small gifts to give to others.  It gave her pleasure to be a giver.  She also loved receiving gifts and had Lynn to assist her each year with compiling a birthday, Easter and Christmas wish list.   If all of those around her could portray the characteristic as a giver, this world would certainly be a better place.
Judith loved to see her doctors and take them gifts.  A grateful thanks is extended to the medical staff that took care of her over the years.  She always told each of them that they were her favorites:  Dr. James Saindon, Dr. Jeffrey Golden, Buffy House, Carol Price, Dr. Garland, Mandy Withers and Dr. Yonel.
A special thanks to her amazing private caregivers:  Lynn, Ronda, Becky, Maryellen, Ty, Cristy, Kathy, Carey; case manager, Jana Burton; Rob & Stacy Tomlinson, Owner’s & Executive Director of Serenity Foundations, Inc and their staff; and all of the staff at Somerwoods Rehab and Nursing Home, especially nurse, Lori Combs; CNA, Tamara Kingsley; activities director, Patty Murphy; and the amazing nurses and staff of Lake Cumberland Hospice.
