Listen to the Obituary
Sandra Faye Mauck, age 72, of Somerset, Kentucky, was taken by the hand and escorted into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1953 in Washington D.C., to the late Linus Alexander Wilkins and Doris Jean Wilkins.
Sandy, as she was affectionately called, grew up in various places around the world, depending on the military stationing of her father. She went to school in places like Germany and Morocco, but spent most of her teen years in Redondo Beach, California, where she developed her love for the ocean. As a high-school student, she enjoyed drama and baton twirling.
She was a strong, committed Christian and found such joy in His creation. Sandy was a multi-talented artist, as was expressed beautifully in her photography, dance, drawing, writing, crocheting, and painting.
In her later years, she pursued some of her personal dreams of having her very own art gallery, her dream home, and fun exploring with the love of her life, her late husband, Rick. Many of their adventures also included the “favorite child”, a miniature stuffed giraffe named Ricky, whose silly antics entertained the family.
Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always putting others above herself. She cherished her time with family and lovingly encouraged both their salvation and growing relationship with God. Sandy was a true prayer warrior and would spend many hours interceding for her friends and family, as well as anyone she met. In her last days, she even added her nurses and chaplain to her prayer list.
Sandy’s sweet spirit radiated the love of Jesus to all who knew her and her absence will be deeply felt until we see her again someday.
Along with her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Richard D. Mauck, and her brother Byron A. Wilkins. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister Regina R. Wilkins, daughters: Cheyenne Wilson (Matthew), Sierra D. Helton (Cory), sons: Shane R. de Lance (Kelly), Dakota de Lance (Jessica), stepson: Shane D. Mauck (Jennifer), along with her 10 grandchildren: Ethan, Josiah, Annah, Chase, Austyn, Joey, Seth, Matthias, and Tyrus.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2:30pm at Mill Springs National Cemetery with Tyler Ford officiating.
