Valinda Jean Spears Isaacs (Lucy) 79 of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on the 25th of September 2026, and in true fashion, Dolly Parton Day (9 to 5), surrounded by her family.
Born 13th of July 1947, to Herman Eugene Spears and Ollie May Hair Spears in Somerset, Kentucky. She married the love of her life on July 12, 1965, Wayne P. Isaacs (recently celebrating 61 years of marriage). Valinda graduated from Burnside High School and later attended Somerset Community College. Valinda in her earlier years worked at 27 Drive-In, Jerry’s, King’s Drive-In, Rose’s Department Store, was PTA President, and worked at Oakwood Center. Later she obtained her real estate license and worked for Century 21, along with selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. Valinda’s true passion for music and celebrating life came when her and Wayne opened “The Pink Cadillac”. As life brings many joyous changes Valinda devoted her life to her husband, kids, and grandkids. Traveling to their sporting, academic, and theatrical events while praising and supporting them on all their endeavors. Valinda loved the lord and was of the Baptist faith.
She spent her life devoted to her husband Wayne and raising and supporting her children, she loved dancing and all things music. She also enjoyed Yard Sales, shopping, collecting all types of jewelry, crafting and baking. And Valinda was a force to be reckoned with when it came to Chinese Checkers, Rummy, and Poker. She loved to travel, go “glamping”, attend concerts and music festivals, and relax on the beach. As someone said, “She was a spitfire”. For her it was everything grandchildren and she was lovingly known as “Granny” and did not take that lightly.
Valinda is survived by her husband Wayne P. Isaacs, daughters Rhonda (Sam) Hail and Amy (Ron) Perkins, grandchildren Allie Jo Hail and Gabriel Ray Perkins. Sisters Judy (Eddie) Hardwick and Barbara Shelton, and brother Herman E. (Darrell Jones) Spears. As well as In-Laws Jerry “Chicken Man” Isaacs (Mavis), Carolyn Wilson-Burton, Doris Dills, Betty Flynn Howard, Chuck (Donna) Girdler, and Willie (Jackie) Bales. And countless other extended family members, nieces and nephews, and friends who loved and cherished her and she loved and cherished back.
Preceding in her death are parents Euguene and Ollie Spears, son James “Jimmy” Lee Spears Isaacs (Her heart was eternally broke that day), brother Danny Lee Spears, and mother-in-law Lula Alice Isaacs.

Somerset Nursing Home and staff, where she was affectionately known as Granny, who loved and doted on her and became a part of our family, Vanderbilt Transplant Center, LCRH Cardiovascular doctors and nurses, Dr. Imburgia and family (Michael and Anita), Corky Waddle, and Betty Hines and Family.

Services will be held at Southern Oaks funeral home on October 1st, 2026, visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral commencing at 1 p.m. Immediately followed by a graveside burial at Southern Oaks Cemetery.
