Steve Avery Tilley, age 84, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at his home.
Steve was born on February 10, 1942 to the late Avery Tilley and Alice White Tilley in Danville, Kentucky.
He gave his life to the Lord in November 1967 and lived his Christian life daily. He was a member of Beech Grove Church, current song leader, former Sunday School Superintendent, and Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was former owner of Mt. Zion Body shop and co-owner of Tilley Auto Sales. He enjoyed restoring model A cars, enjoyed his family and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Tilley and Robert Tilley, and a sister Pauline Loveless Spaw.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Margie (Haste) Tilley, whom he married on July 21, 1962, at the home of Rev. Ernest Farris; his sons: Michael Steven Tilley (Tammie) and Garry Tilley (Lesia) all of Science Hill; grandchildren: Seth Tilley (Laura) of Science Hill; Allison Wooldridge (Alec) of Somerset, Ky; Justin Tilley also of Science Hill; great-grandchildren: Garren Tilley, Branson Tilley, and Jetta Faye Wooldridge; along with numerous, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 4pm in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 3pm at the funeral home with
Bro. Cecil Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Tilley, Garry Tilley, Seth Tilley, Justin Tilley, Alec Wooldridge, and Danny West.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Beech Grove Cemetery Fund.
