Derek Roger Lowery, age 42, of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Monday, September 7, 2026 at his home.
Derek was born in Somerset, Kentucky, on April 4, 1984, to Howard Roger Lowery and Sandra Roney Lowery.
He enjoyed playing baseball, riding dirt bikes, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed visiting parks with his family, especially Mammoth Cave. He absolutely adored his son. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him. He was employed by Roney’s Plumbing for the past 14 years as a licensed plumber, and he loved his job.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents: Howard Roger and Sandra Lowery, his son Justin Lowery, his fiancé of 14 years: Nickie Poynter and her son, Ryan Poynter, brother Edman Matthew Hughes (Laura) of Elizabethtown, Ky; uncle, Robert Roney (Anola) also of Somerset, along with special niece, Eastyn Hughes and special nephew Ethan Hughes.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 12pm-2pm in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 2pm with Bro. Matt Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
