Jerry Paul Forbes, age 81 of Somerset, Ky passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2026 at his home.
Jerry was born on June 7th, 1945 in Tylertown, Mississippi. He was the son of Alfred William Forbes and Juanita Stogner Forbes. He graduated from Dexter High School in May of 1963. Jerry retired from Lonestar Cement and Southern Belle Dairy. He spent many years as the President of the Lake City Beagle Club and was well known for his quality beagles and his starting pen. He always enjoyed planting a big garden and working in it. He loved watching UK basketball. While his kids were growing up, he was very involved in their sports teams and never missed a game. Most recently, Jerry was a greeter at Walmart where he made many lasting impressions on everyone who walked through the doors. Jerry was known for his infectious smile that could light up a room. Jerry loved the Lord and recently said he had known Him for many, many years. He loved the hymn “Amazing Grace.”
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Forbes, a sister: Geneva Wiley, as well as his parents.
Jerry is survived by his children: two sons, Cory (and Janet) Forbes of Texas and Nicholas Forbes of Somerset, and a daughter, Emily (and Josh) Wilson of Somerset; and eight grandchildren: Autumn, Ainsley, & Parker Forbes, Austin, Tucker, Brayden Paul, and Charlie Wilson, and Annalynn Forbes. Jerry is also survived by his siblings: A.W., Mike, & Kenny Forbes, and Judy Boyd.
The family of Jerry wishes to publicly express their utmost thanks to Rhonda Grigsby and Hospice of Lake Cumberland, especially nurse Ashley, for their wonderful and loving care of Jerry. Thanks to their support, he was able to fulfill his wish of passing at home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2026 at 11am in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Jerry Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of gifts, the family requests donations be made to the Jerry Forbes memorial fund.
