Julia Rose Freeman, age 87 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 
She was born on November 13, 1938 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, daughter of the late Wellington and Dona Farmer Holt. 
Julia proudly served her country in the United States Navy. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion, a teacher for Shopville School District where she loved teaching, and a very religious woman, deep in her Baptist faith. She was a very detail-oriented person, a very proud and devoted wife to her husband Winifer, and she also loved her family and holidays. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Winifer Watson Freeman, Sr; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Holt. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Holt of Villa Hills, KY and Don (Terri) Holt of Cincinnati, OH; and a niece Myra (Ivan) Weir of Parkers Lake, KY. 
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery and will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Auxiliary.
