Joseph Calvin Franklin “Joe” age 32, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by family.
Joseph was born to parents Arlis and Connie Franklin of Somerset, Kentucky on November 9, 1993 in Pulaski County.
Joseph married the love of his life, Destiny Nicole Phelps Franklin on May 24, 2017. He was survived by one son, Joshua Calvin Franklin, mother-in-law, Shannon Phelps, brothers-in-law that became brothers: Joe (Gina) Phelps, Justin (Mariah) Phelps, Jordan, Shawn, Kevin, Jaydan, and Dylan Phelps, sister-in-law Tracy Phelps. Uncles: Gerald, Larry, Gary Franklin, Sammy, Tommy and Roger Roy and Jack Cox. Aunts: Shelia, Molly Franklin, Jeanette Brown, Tiffany Roy, Joyce Coffey, and Kay Cox. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, many friends and family. Special friends: Nathan Roy, Justin Haste, Helen and George Baker, Dwight Collins, Luke Muse and Ray.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents: Tracy (Bill) Roy, Edna Roy, Calvin Franklin, and Tena Franklin. Uncles: Roy Franklin and Johnny Withers and father-in-law Wallace Keith Phelps.
Joseph had a God given talent to play music and sing, which he started at a young age. He played for many years with his dad in Bluegrass Gospel groups with many friends that became family to him. Joseph loved to play the banjo, sing in churches and gatherings; anywhere he could share the gospel to help someone in need. Joseph was a Christian and a strong believer in faith, especially in healing and it showed in his walk of life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 11am-1pm in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Marty Murphy officiating.
His last ride will be to Southern Oaks Cemetery with his special uncle, Jack Cox, for graveside.
Pallbearers will be: Joe, Jordan and Justin Phelps, Roger, Sammy and Nathan Roy, Jack Cox and Justin Haste.
