Anthoney “Shane” Ellis, aged 54, entered the gates of Heaven on 13 May, 2026. He entered into this fife with his big pearly white smile on 26 September, 1971 in New Albany Indiana to Mr. Theodore P. Ellis Jr and Mrs. Wilma Jean Ellis. He was a proud resident of Somerset Kentucky. Mr. Ellis was one of one. During his lifetime he took on multiple roles, but his proudest achievement was being a father to his 6 children. He dedicated his life to making others happy and pouring love into every person he encountered. When he walked into the room, he filled it instantly. His energy was magnetic. With his larger-than-life personality and a laugh that echoed long after he left Shane didn’t just live in our community, he gave his heartbeat to this community. Shane had the ability to make anyone smile and we all hope to be able to carry that into our lives.

 

Throughout the community and generations, Shane’s most memorable roles are official, coach and mentor. He poured love into each and every kid as if they were his own. He made sure everyone knew he was proud of them and brought the best out of everyone as his communities’ biggest cheerleader. To know Shane, was to experience a force of nature. He possessed an infectious energy that drew people in instantly. He lived loudly, laughed without restraint, and loved fiercely. Whether he was around a fire that he built, dancing to his music, or cheering at the top of his lungs for anyone of his kids he did it with 100% of his heart and soul. His true life’s work was the impact he made on people. With possession of the ability to make everyone feel like the most important person in the world, his smile, his laugh, his hugs, words of courage, and love will be desperately missed but forever carried on by those he loved most.

 

He is survived by his children; Zachary Shane Ellis, Taylor Anthoney Ellis, Isabella Lenae Ellis, Silas Cooper Ellis, Shelby Paige Ellis, and Jalee Ann Ellis. His cherished grandchildren; Cairo Anthoney Ellis and Elianna Taylor Ellis. His mother; Wilma Jean Ellis

His brothers; James Victor Newbolt, Terrance Rene’ Ellis, John Bradley Ellis.

He also leaves behind other special family members and a legendary circle of friends who will always cherish the memories, laughs, and light he brought into their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father; Theodore P Ellis Jr and his grandmother; Lena Jackson Newbolt.

 

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Life Church, 200 Jessie Lane, Somerset, KY. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Life Church. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Anthoney Shane Ellis.
