Donald E. Carrothers Jr, age 80, of Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, May 8, 2026 at his home.
Donald was born on November 22, 1945 in South Chicago, Illinois to the late Donald E. Carrothers Sr. and Bonita Basso Carrothers.
He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed motorcycle rides and was a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed watching UK Basketball, NASCAR and Ice racing. He liked working on engines, sitting on the boat dock and watching boats go by. He was a Veteran and St. Jude’s Supporter. He was lovingly known as: Papa, Papa Don, and Papa Smurf. Known for his bar-b-que ribs, loved gathering and hanging with all his many friends. He was a lifelong sheet metal worker for an international association.
Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife Emma Carrothers and daughter Rady Logan.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons: Mark Carrothers (Susan) of Crown Point, IN and Jeffery Bryant (Patti) of Niceville, FL; daughters: Victoria Carrothers (Jamie) of Science Hill, Ky; Kimberly Skalba (Timothy) of Hammond, IN; Tammie Fister (Norbert) of Lexington, Ky and Kelly Cohn (Jason) of Nicholasville, Ky; Grandchildren; John Carrothers, Jessica Carrothers, Timothy Skalba, Kalee Skalba, Josh Carrothers, Jerod and Makenzie Cohn, and Crystal and Danny Bryant; along with great-grandchild: Aspen Carrothers.
In accordance with Donald’s wishes there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veterans or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Donald E. Carrothers.
