Mrs. Jo Ann Johnson, age 69, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Russell County Hospital.
Mrs. Jo Ann was born on March 2, 1957 to the late William Valentine and Anna Banks Valentine in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed bingo, shopping, was very thrifty, enjoyed thrift stores and Goodwill. She loved to get up and go. She cherished her grandbabies and fur babies “Queenie” and “Pee Wee”. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, MC Johnson Jr. and a brother, James Valentine.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, MC Johnson III and his wife (Savannah) of Bronston, Ky; brothers: Ivan Valentine (Jeanie) and Bill Valentine (Karen); sisters: Patricia Carter and Eliza Johnson; grandchildren: Aaliyah Johnson, Isaiah Johnson, and Ashanti Haynes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 1pm-3pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mrs. Jo Ann Johnson.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear about my sister friend. I love my candy girl. I will miss her greatly. we had lots of fun together laughing and talking and praying and eating. I got a kick out of a saying that she would say at different times. You better settle down. LOL! To MC and Nolan and all the family. You have my deepest sympathy and your time of sorrow. She’s gone but never will be forgotten. Candy touched a lot of lives and she certainly touched ours. Amanda, Perry and Micah 🌹❤️😭
Sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin, Jo Ann (Candy). I hadn’t seen her in years. May God bless and comfort our family as we remember Jo Ann for the fun loving, laughing girl/lady that she was. RIP Cousin.
Im going to miss (Miss Candy). Ive known her for about 6 yrs. One of the sweetest people anyone could meet. My heart and prayers goes out to all the family. I loved her so much.
