Timothy John Poynter II, age 38 of Burnside, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday July 17, 2025. Timothy was born on January 6, 1987, in Somerset Kentucky. Timothy was of the Methodist faith. He is a 2005 graduate of Somerset High School.
Timothy was an avid gamer, and loved electronics of all kinds. He also enjoyed geode hunting and fishing when his health allowed and spending time with his friends and family whenever possible.
Timothy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert L Copenhaver of Ferguson, his paternal grandparents Norman and Jean Walker Poynter of Somerset, an uncle James Norman Poynter of Somerset, an aunt Dana Poynter of Somerset, and his very special great grandmother Eva Marie Roberts Beasley of Ferguson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents Timothy J and Sherri Copenhaver Poynter of Somerset, a brother Bradney (Emily) Poynter of Somerset, his maternal grandmother Jerry Sue Beasley Copenhaver (Jim Helton) of Ferguson, an uncle Chris (Cindy) Copenhaver of Lawrenceburg Ky, an aunt Wanda Poynter (Jim) Large of Somerset, an aunt Phyllis Troxtell Poynter of Somerset and a very special great aunt and uncle Jeanne and Arnold Spaw. Timothy also has a host of cousins and other family who loved him dearly. He also leaves behind his very best friends Dylan Mort and Roberta Martinez of Somerset and Josh and Halei Simpson of Burnside.
There will be a private ceremony held for Timothy’s family on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 2pm at Ferguson Methodist Church with Bro. Gary Clark officiating.
A celebration of life for Timothy will follow from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Ferguson Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. All friends and family are welcome. No formal service will take place. Come as you are, it will just be a joyous time of remembrance for our dear sweet boy Timmy.

Timmy was my best friend, he never asked for anything, never expected anything but was always there when no one else could be found. Ready to land a quirky remark, well time joke, or rocking song suggestion to break the mood or take your mind off whatever was bothering you even if just for a minute. Timmy was always so genuine and just so pure in nature. He was never trying to do anything but the best for someone. This world isn’tquite as warm, isn’t going to rock quite as hard, and it definitely will never have the same feel as it used to. Till we meet again my friend say hi to Dave, Ozzy and the Hulkster! Let him know I’ll be there… but I’m in no rush so they might as well kick back and relax. You’ll forever be on my mind until I see you again. No one will you have to rock out Metallica on a piano quite like you.
