Joseph Paul Ping, age 84, of Ruth, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2025, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was married to his devoted wife of 59 years, Betty Pearl Brinson Ping, until they were parted by her passing on June 17, 2021.

The Mount Victory native was born on October 14, 1940, to the late Alonzo Franklin Ping and the late Bessie Mae Farmer Ping. He was a graduate of Pulaski County High School where he played basketball and baseball. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country in Greenland. For many years, he worked as a printer and retired as co-owner of Cardinal Printing of Somerset. Afterwards, he worked and retired as a groundkeeper at Eagle’s Nest Country Club also in Somerset. He loved God, his family, golf, UK basketball, fishing, and books.

He leaves to honor his memory his daughters Karen Cannon (Wil) of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Teresa Jones (Roy Alan) of Portland, Tennessee; sons Steven Ping (Karen) of Farragut, Tennessee, and Joseph Ping (Jean) of Somerset, Kentucky; grandsons Kyle Cannon, Wil Tyler Cannon, Joshua Cannon, Mark Jones, Nathan Jones, Cody Jones, Luke Jones, Travis Ping, Jacob Ping, and Caleb Ping; granddaughters Brenda McKinney and Zoey Ping; great grandsons Noah Cannon and Malakai Ping; great granddaughters Caroline Cannon and Gwen Jones; two brothers John “Jack” Ping, William “Bill” Ping and one sister Cecelia Ping Maxey.

Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers James “Jimmy” Ping, Richard Ping, Orville Ping, Edward Ping, Herman Ray Ping, and Forrest Ping and by his sisters Netha Ping Bloemer, Ruth Ping Tulley, and Sherry Ping Miles.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Mill Springs National Cemetery at 12:30pm with Bro. Vestal Meece officiating. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Joseph Paul Ping.
