Donald R. Meece, age 84, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Donald was born on January 25, 1941 to the late James Meece and Hattie Smiley Meece in White Lily, Kentucky.

He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church #1. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trail riding with friends, shoeing and taking care of horses. He was the neighborhood mechanic and enjoyed building things out of wood. He loved his family more than anything.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Meece, brother Harold Meece, sisters Juanita Sears and Maxine Ping.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 65 years, Ella Mae (Fulcher) Meece, son Steve Meece and daughter Cindy Stringer (Jim) all of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren: Luke Coomer (Lacey) of Somerset; Ky Amanda Prater (Jack) of Alexandria, Ky; Matthew Meece (Somer) of Somerset, Ky; great-grandchildren: Lauren Coomer, Logan Coomer, Ella Prater and Sunnie Meece.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 12-2pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2pm with Bro. Doug Eggers officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Lick Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Donald R. Meece.
