Wanda Louise Luffman Francis of Foley, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2024. She was born December 14, 1954 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late Albert and Opal Lene Luffman. She was a former member of Bayside Baptist Church in Lillian, Alabama and Highland Park Baptist church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of North Alabama. She spent the next 22 years teaching math to students at Briarcrest High School in Memphis; Williamson County Tennessee School System; The Charter School in Florida; and Retreat Hospital for kids in Decatur, Alabama. Wanda and her husband enjoyed extensive traveling. She loved playing piano and singing in church, sewing with her Mother, and reading for hours at a time. Wanda was one of the youngest patients diagnosed with Lupus at Vanderbilt Hospital and survived 58 years of health issues associated with this auto-immune disease.
Wanda was predeceased by her father, Albert Luffman, mother, Opal Lene Luffman, and niece Ashley Hope Luffman.
Survivors are husband, Fred Francis of Foley, Alabama; stepson, Fred Francis, Jr of Tampa, Florida; stepdaughter, Natalie (Greg) Grogan of Lewisburg, Tennessee; brothers-Gary (Vikki) Luffman, Randy (Debbie) Luffman of Franklin, Tennessee; nieces -Heather, Mollie & Haley; nephews-Taylor & Hunter; great-nieces Channing & Sepra; great-nephews-Cason, Cameron, & Christian. Also survived by step-grandson-Fred Francis, Ill of Bowling Green, KY; as well as Charlotte Shaw, special cousin “sister” of Lawrenceburg, TN.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 11:00 -12:00 with services at noon on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Greg Brown officiating. The internment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
