Joan Ruth Brinson, age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Jean Waddle Care Center.
Joan was born on November 21, 1945 to the late Vonies Franklin Baker and Bertie Eva Mounce Baker in White Lily, Kentucky.
She was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church where she was a former children’s Sunday School teacher. She retired from General Electric and had worked there from 1966-2010, retiring after 44 years, where she had made life-long friendships. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved animals, camping and in her younger years she enjoyed motorcycle riding with relatives.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Vonies Franklin and Bertie Baker and her life-long friend and husband, Cecil “Pete” Brinson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons: Stephen Michael Brinson of Lexington, Ky and Randall Scott Brinson of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren: Timothy Cooper Brinson (Suamj Restifo), Raylan Cole Brinson and numerous other step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 5 to 8pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Visitation will continue after 10am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Rock Lick Baptist Church with a funeral service to begin at 12 noon at the church with Bro. Brad Gover officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Lick Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rock Lick Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Joan Ruth Brinson.
