Stanley S. Wood, age 93, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Stanley was born on November 13, 1931 in Quinton, Kentucky to the late Robert Wood and Mabel Price Wood.
He retired from Ford Motor Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was a skilled welder, project engineer and enjoyed going to farm auctions, building trailers and loved working in the garden with his wife. He was a classic car and truck buff. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and in the Korean War.
Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Jones Wood, his parents, Robert and Mabel Price Wood, brothers: James Robert “J.R.” Wood and Lewis Wood, sisters: Irene Meadows and Faye Lois Phillips.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons: Rodney Wood (Louise) of Brown City, MI; Michael Wood (Veda) of Ray, MI; Timmy Wood (Tammy) of Glasgow, Ky; daughter, Cynthia Paul (Brian) of Farmington Hills, MI; brothers: Bob Wood (Girtha), John Wood and Ron Wood, sister, Dora Helen Peterson, 6 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and one on the way.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 5 to 8pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 10am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Slate Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
