Listen to the Obituary
Alma Dean Pittman stepped into the arms of Jesus on October 14th, 2024 at the age of 73.
Alma was born in Pine Knot Kentucky on May 17th, 1951 to Polly Strunk Stephens and Elmer Estes Stephens. Her heart was full of love for everyone, but especially so for those closest to her. She never second guessed doing anything she could to help others. Her strength and courage were impenetrable. She loved the color purple, gospel music, and a “good cold Coke”, as she would so often say. But equally so, she found joy in doing anything to make those around her feel special and loved. While she is now in Heaven and no longer suffering, for those of us here on earth, the loss will leave a deep and lasting impression because there will never be another “Alma Dean”, “Mom”, or “Nanny” like her.
Alma will always and forever be remembered by so many, as her kindness was far reaching and deeply felt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Lisa (and son-in-law Rob Claunch), and her son Billy Pittman all of Somerset, Kentucky; her brother, Elmer Ray (and Brenda) Stephens, of Science Hill, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Landon, Angel, and Abbi, whom she affectionately called her babies; her one and only great-grandson, Weston; her special friend, Tommy Claunch, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; three brothers: Arnold, Alex, and Sam Stephens; and six sisters: Wanda and Lena Jo Stephens, Shirley Dixon, Mary Grundy, Ann Marlar, Jennie Bradshaw, and her special best friend, Betty Collins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 6 to 8pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home and a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 3pm at the funeral home with Bro. Isaiah Super officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Alma Dean Pittman.
