George Michael (Mike) Spillman, 74, of Somerset, Ky passed to be with his heavenly Father on October 6th 2024 at his home with his wife and his two sons by his side.

George (Mike) was born on August 12th 1950 to the late George Jr. and Velma (Hines) Spillman in Science Hill, KY. After George (Mike) graduated from Somerset High School in the year 1968, he went on to drive a semi for Eldridge Truck Line for two years. On September 16th 1970 through April 18th 1972, George (Mike) served in the US Army during the Vietnam war where he was stationed in Germany where he worked as a truck driver and a clerk. On December 24th of 1970 George (Mike) married his wife Francis (Fran) Whiles at Eubank Church of Christ in Eubank, KY. George (Mike) and Francis (Fran) went on to have two children, Michael Stuart (Stewk) and Matthew Shane. In the year 2012 George (Mike) retired from Teamsters Local 651 as a semi-truck driver after 44 years. George (Mike) was also the co-owner/founder of Spillman Coffee Co. before selling the company in 1994. George (Mike) was an active member of Lakeside Church of Christ. George (Mike) was preceded in death by his parents George Jr. and Velma (Hines) Spillman.

He is survived by his wife Francis (Fran) Spillman, his two sons Michael Stuart (Stewk) (Gina) Spillman and Matthew Shane (Jill) Spillman. His six grandchildren Amanda Jo (Billy) Holder, Katieann Olivia (Timothy) Ford, Lyndsey Annaliese Spillman, Matthew Elijah Spillman, Simon Noah Bishop Spillman, and Benjamin Micha Keith Spillman. His three great-grandchildren Abigail (Abby) Grace Holder, James Wyatt Holder and Charles (Charlie) Dean Ford. His two sisters Shirley Ann (Jesse) Turner of Stanford, Patty Lynn Spillman of Somerset and brother-in-law Ralph Snyder of Florida. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10th 2024 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11th 2024 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Danny McKibben and Josh McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Elijah Spillman, Simon Spillman, Ben Spillman, Billy Holder, Timothy Ford and Tim Whiles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Abby Holder, Charlie Ford, Conley Snyder and Kent Snyder.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Shriner’s or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
