Benjamin Ray “Rufus” Baker, age 16, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Benjamin was born on July 28, 2008 to William Baker and Randi Mayfield.
He enjoyed music, camels and elephants. He loved the movie How to Train Your Dragon and the character “Toothless”; and the character “Groot” from Guardians of the Galaxy. He loved “Cotton Eyed Joe”, “Wagon Wheel” and loved blue Jolly Ranchers. He loved to watch the Waltons, always had a smile on his face and loved his fur baby “Sam”. He brought so much joy to his parents and friends’ lives and he never met a stranger. He was the light of so many lives and will be forever loved and missed by all.
Benjamin was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Beamer McClain and paternal great-grandmother and great-grandfather, Maragaret Jones and Leo Jones; paternal great-grandparents, Henry and Rachel Baker, maternal great-grandmother, Mary Ware, maternal great-grandparents, Thelma and Donward S. Mayfield.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, William Baker and Randi Mayfield (Christian Pittman), paternal grandparents, Stanley and Vicki Baker;maternal grandparents, Russell Mayfield and Jean McClain, great-grandfather, Larry “Wimp” Ware, aunts: Megan Mayfield and Rachel Baker, uncle, Michael Mayfield; along with several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 10 am to 12pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 12pm with Bro. David Green officiating. Burial will follow in Wells Cemetery in Ano, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benjamin Ray Baker Memorial Fund C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
