James M. Lockard, age 96 of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, August 9, 2024 at his home.
He was born on June 23, 1928 in Old Burnside, Kentucky, son of the late John and Foxie Burton Lockard.
James was a farmer and retired from Southern Wood Piedmont after 30 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Lockard, whom he married on May 28, 1946; sons, Bro. James “Buddy” Lockard, Joe Lockard and Roger Lockard; daughters, Judy Howard, Linda Jones and Carroll Davis; brother, Ray Lockard; sisters, Sarah Lou Walden, Maxine Brown, Faye Marcum, Pauline Walden and Linda Mae Lockard; great-grandchildren, Brittany Gardner, Caleb Walden and Wyatt Morrisey.
He is survived by daughters, Wanda (Bro. Walter) Walden of Bronston and Teresa (Michael) Sweet of Somerset; brothers, Joe Bill Lockard, Jessie Lockard and John Dee Lockard all of Somerset; sons-in-law, Charlie Davis of Somerset and Carl Howard of Blue John Community; daughters-in-law, Norma Foster Lockard, Sue Childers Lockard and Debbie Lowe Lockard all of Bronston; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm. on Monday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Bronston Cemetery.
