Emily G. Keeton, age 83, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Emily was born on November 13, 1940 to the late Willis Gibson and Venis Hall Gibson in Knot County, Kentucky.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Venis Gibson, her son, Kendall Layne, daughters, Elizabeth Morrison and Judy Stenson, brothers: Marvin Gibson, Darvin Gibson, Darrell Gibson, sister, Jacklyn Gibson, grandson, Barry William Layne, granddaughter, Nicky Layne and daughter-in-law, Linda Webb Layne.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, David “Clyde” Keeton, sons, Terry Layne of Nancy, Ky; Ricky Keeton of Hollywood, FL; Bucky Keeton of Morehead, Ky; daughter, Nancy Wheeler of Sandy Hook, Ky  brother, Randy Gibson of Knott County, Ky; sisters: Ann Layne (Bufford) of Carlise, Ky; Novella Ford and Lois Gibson both of Lexington, Ky; sister-in-law, Margaret Gibson of Knott County, Ky; grandchildren: David Morrison, Lisa Layne, Duane Layne, Allison Layne, Tracy Ward, Vanessa Flannery, Nicole Wells, Kayla Brown, Ethan Keeton, Derek Wheeler, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 6pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11am in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Southern Oaks Cemetery.
