Mary Ann Simpson, age 86 of Nancy, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2024.

She was born on April 19, 1938 in Munfordville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Earl F. and Pauline Freeman Thompson.

Mary Ann Simpson was a devoted wife of 66 years to Dwain Simpson. They married on June 21st of 1958 and were madly in love and shared a beautiful life.

Mary Ann was a member of Calvary Separate Baptist Church. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and made Him and her relationship with Him her top priority. Her family can attest that her Bible was always next to her chair in the living room or on her bedside table. She loved God’s word.

Mary Ann was a gifted piano player who played much by ear. She was also an amazing country cook, who made the best pinto beans and cornbread you have ever tasted. She enjoyed fishing, tending to her flowers, and being outside soaking in all the sunshine she could. Mary Ann spent a lot of her time working on their family farm. She was an incredibly hard worker who never complained. Above all her many talents and whit, Mary Ann was a help to all who knew her. She gave so much to her family and friends. Like her Lord and Savior, she loved people and doing for others. Mary Ann will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her. Until we meet again.

Together they had three children, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwain Simpson; brothers, Herman Thompson, Junior Thompson, Linwood Thompson, Terrell Thompson and a sister, Iona Bextel.

She is survived by her son, Joel (Annetta) Simpson of Nancy; daughters, Cindy (Rick) Smith of Bronston and Julie Simpson (Eddie) of Nancy; grandkids, Brian (Natacia) Simpson, Ashley (Darren) Burton, Kyle (Denetta) Lefler, Kaylee Smith, Kelsey (Bradley) Goodman and Dylan (Morgan) Sisson; great grandkids, Alyson and Ashton Simpson, Owen and Amelia Burton, Jesalyn and Acen Lefler, Preston and Riley Sisson and Harper Goodman

She is also survived by a brother, Tommy (Mary Vella) Thompson of Lafayette, IN; sisters, Martha Jean (David) Eason of Danville, Illinois and Jenny (Bud) Haremza of Florida.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will be in The Simpson Family Cemetery located at 191 Clark Road in Nancy.

Pallbearers will be Brian Simpson, Kyle Lefler, Dylan Sisson, Darren Burton, Bradley Goodman and Rick Smith.
