Listen to the Obituary
Sandra Ann Griffin, age 69, of Somerset, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
She was born on September 24, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Daughter of the late Anna Pearl Privett and James Wathen.
Sandra was a member of Parkers Mill Road Baptist Church. Sandra loved the Lord, her family and her church family. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” She was the definition of a free spirit. She never met a stranger, she loved people and adored being with her family. Her sense of humor was one of a kind. She had a contagious laugh that could light up a room. She loved life and made the best of the years she had on this earth. She focused on family and not materialistic things. She cared more for others than she did herself. She had a heart of gold and was a caregiver to all. Sandra worked as a registered nurse in Cincinnati, Ohio for some time, also received her degree as a physical therapist and later retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Caring for others was her calling and something she took great pride in.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Robert Lee Griffin, Sr.; her parents, Anna Pearl Privett and James Wathen; and her two sisters, Kathy Lee Privett and Norma Jean Tarter.
She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah (Troy) Beshears of Somerset and Sharon (Dungan) Foreman (Richard) of Somerset; her son, Robert Lee Griffin, Jr. (Amber) of Georgia; grandchildren, whom she adored and was beyond proud of, Katlyn Bowman (Braden) of Nancy, Steven Dungan (Savannah) of Somerset, Emily Dungan (Santos) of Florida, and Kari Morrow (Adam) of Bronston; her great grandchildren, whom she also adored and was beyond proud of, Landen and Lydia Bowman, Blake Canada, Lucas and Nora Dungan, and Colton Morrow. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Nancy Tarter (Tim) of Ohio, Sue Reed (Greg) of Ohio, and Frank Zimmerman (Carla) of Ohio. She also leaves behind a wealth of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She also leaves behind a dear friend that holds a special place in her heart, Steven Bagwell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
