Arvil Lee Gibson age 80, died January 5, 2024. He was born September 1, 1943 to the late Marvin Gibson and Pearl Mae Davis Gibson in Burnside, Kentucky.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory Lena Mae Gibson, whom he married on February 1, 1963. One son Kenny Gibson, one daughter Marlene Lewis, grandchildren, Valerie Gibson (Kenny Shepherd), Kenny Lewis (Krista Lewis), Jonathan Gibson (Ashley Gibson), Justin Lewis (Dakota Lewis), Kyle Lewis (Emily Lewis), Amber Bolin (Donnie Bolin), Kassie Gibson Wynn, great-grandchildren Kinsley Gibson, Hailey Davis, Hunter New, Hayden Lewis, Hanna Ward, Maddie Ward, Collin Gibson, Carson Gibson, Leigh Bryant, Addy Lewis, Wyatt Lewis, Weston Lewis, Hailey Bolin, April Bolin, Abby Bolin, Daniel Bolin, adopted daughter, Cassandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Pearl Mae Gibson, one sister Helen Gibson Jones, brothers, Marvin Gibson Jr., James (Jimmy) Gibson, George Ryan (Peanut) Gibson, Jerry Gibson, one great-grandchild, Ryan Todd Ward Lewis. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of God. He worked for the City of Burnside for over 27 years, was on the Burnside Fire Department in the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. He worked for the state at Burnside Island where he was in charge of the pool. He loved Kentucky Basketball, fishing, looking at Terry’s Christmas lights, and mostly his family. He will be remembered by many and missed by all. Special friends are: Wayne and Sheila, Terry and Keith Frank, Billy and Nancy and Brian and Scotty.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11am in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2pm with Bro. Rob Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Arvil Lee Gibson.
