Bruce C. McGowan age 66 of Ferguson, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
Bruce was born on March 7, 1957 to the late Kenneth McGowan and Beatrice Ashton McGowan in Bad Kreuznach, Germany.
He was a member of Potters Place Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing, underwater diving, a fun guy that loved to laugh and enjoy life. He served from 1975-1995 in the Medical Group in the United States Air Force. His children were the light of his life and he cherished all of his family and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Beatrice McGowan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 48 years, Marie McGowan, son, Brandon (Jo Anna) McGowan of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Elisha (Peter) Hussey of Monticello, Ky; brothers, Michael, David and Greg McGowan; grandchildren, Hana, Ian and Emi McGowan, Olivia and Gabriel Hussey.
Burial will be held at Mill Springs National Cemetery on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. Military Honors will be conducted by America Legion Honor Guard Post #38.

Dear Marie; I pray for your peace and understanding, and that you find comfort in the support of friends and family, and in knowing that Bruce is well and no longer suffering. I have always loved you, and have great memories of you both at Lee’s Ford and on Lake Cumberland. We sure had some good times! I’m so glad you have your children and grandchildren close! Rest in Peace, Bruce!
Bruce was the life of the party. He was a, “outside the box thinker” and he was my first supervisor when we moved to Okinawa. Our oldest daughter, Laura and him were best buddies.
Marie and family, we are so sorry for your loss but just imagine what he’s doing in Heaven…
You will be sorely missed.
