James (Russ) Nicholas, age 79, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center on January 6, 2022. The son of James Elmer Nicholas and Anna Bell (Stigall) Nicholas. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Wanda (Nicholas) Doss. Left to mourn his passing is his loving Joyce (Casada) Nicholas whom he married on June 3, 1961. To this union was blessed with a daughter, Kimberly (Christian) Paulk, one granddaughter, Rachael (Danny) Isaacs, and one great-grandson, Owen John Isaacs. Also, one sister Janice (Jimmy) Troxell, brother in laws, Denver Casada, Bobby (Hilda) Casada, Boyd (Brenda) Casada, sister-in-laws, Euetta Keith, Ruby Whan, Freda Casada and Jeanette Phelps. Special family members, Linda (Rick) Ridner, Andrew Ridner and McKenzie Vaught. Along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved so much.
Russ was a member of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Burnside Mason Lodge since 1974. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and father-in-law. He was co-owner of Cumberland Auto Supply for 15 years and retired from O’Reiley’s. He loved hunting and being outdoors. Also spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 11 A.M to 1 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1 P.M. with Bro. Jeff Lockard and Bro. Larry Meece officiating. Burial will follow in Quinton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick and Andrew Ridner, Jimmy Troxell, Brian Neeley, Alan Doss and Terry Corder.
Masonic service will be conducted by Burnside Masonic Lodge
