Mindy Rose Perez, age 45, of Burnside, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, August 13, 2021 at UK Healthcare in Lexington.
She was born on December 1, 1975 in Somerset, Kentucky, the daughter of Martin Calhoun and Melissa Lycett Duncan.
She was the owner and operator of Kiddie Poo’z Child Care. She was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed traveling, singing, and spending time with her family. She loved the beach, but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jose Perez; her son, Kyle (Cheyenne) Mounce of Burnside; daughter, Katelynn Girdler of Burnside; her father and stepmother, Martin and Jackie Calhoun of Burnside; her mother and stepfather; Melissa and David Duncan of Somerset; sister, Rebecca (Roy) Pitman of Somerset; grandchildren, Trenton Crabtree, Treydon Crabtree, Wesley Brown, Willow Brown, and Renesmae King; uncle, Bill Barnett of Somerset; stepbrothers, Brian Ping of Somerset, Sean Lawson of Somerset, Josh (Gretchen) of Nashville, TN, and Matthew Duncan of Glasgow; stepsisters, Amy Acton of Somerset, Tara (Phillip) Stigall of Somerset, and Candy Duncan of Glasgow; mother-in-law, Lucia Perez of Mexico, and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Danny Staley officiating. Burial will be in Sloans Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Markey Cancer Center, Lexington, KY.

Martin and family:Sorry to hear of your loss. It would have been OK for me to know she was in Lex. She will now join a host of many family members, who, like my mother, uncle and friends who passed with COVID.
