Mrs. Wilma Girdler age 95, of the Slate Branch community passed away on Friday April 24, 2020 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Girdler was born on June 14, 1924 in the Delmer community to the late Ensil and Ella Messer Floyd. Wilma attended Slate Branch Baptist church where she was a member since 1976.
Mrs. Girdler was preceded in death by her parents, Ensil and Ella Floyd; husband, James W. Girdler; sons, Robert “Bobby” V. Girdler, Ensil Vernon Girdler, and Dewayne Wesley Girdler; brothers, Add Floyd, Brent Floyd, and Greyson Mitchell; sisters, Lena Daulton and Erma Christina Floyd; grandson in law, Jeff Price.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Allen (Becky) Girdler of Eubank; grandchildren, Bruce (Cheryl) Girdler, Debra L. Price, Sandra Narconi, Matthew Girdler, Michael Girdler; great grandchildren, J.B. Hitchcok, Jeffery Girdler, Logan Viers, and Morgan Viers; special sister in law, Roberta Floyd; Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 29, 2020 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Dawson officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy maybe made to the Slate Branch Baptist Church building fund.
