Mr. Abie Richard Taylor age 98 of Somerset, Kentucky passed from life Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.
He was born October 3, 1920 to the late Anderson Taylor and Loretta Swain Taylor in Funston community of McCreary County, Kentucky.
He married his loving wife Margie Ridner Taylor on September 29, 1940 in McCreary County, Kentucky.
He was a coal miner before he began farming and later opened his own sawmill. He joined church and accepted Christ as his savior May of 1955. He became a deacon (life long) June 8, 1958. He enjoyed digging ginseng, hunting arrow heads, loved his church, his church family, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margie Ridner Taylor; daughter, Maudie Fayerene Taylor; brother, Rufus Taylor; sister, Bertha Upchurch; Carrie Warman; Maggie Oldham; Gracie Sears; Mandy Goodin. Bessie Taylor; son in law, James Helton; two great-great grandchildren, Addalyn and Maddalyn Mink.
He is survived by his sons, James (Dorothy) Taylor of Mt. Victory, Kentucky; Billy (Jeanie) Taylor of Somerset; Wayne (Dean) Taylor of Mt. Victory; Marshall (Peggy) Taylor of Mt. Victory; Eddie Dale (Darlene) Taylor of Colo community; daughters, Joyce (Earl) Mounce of Malvin Hill, Kentucky; Debbie Helton of Mt. Victory; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; twenty five great-great grandchildren; one great- great- great grandchild; and numerous step grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Victory Baptist Church c/o Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 5:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Meece and Bro. Roger Liford officiating.
Burial will be in the Taylor Family Cemetery in Mt. Victory, Kentucky.
