Mrs. Kathleen “Kat” Hoskins Sons, age 72, of Owenton, Kentucky, widow of James “Jim” Sons, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after a short illness.
“Kat” was born on June 14, 1945 in West Liberty, of Morgan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Hoskins and Mary Sparks Hoskins. She was a Homemaker in her latter years, but worked in Scott County as a laborer in the manufacturing business. She was a hard working woman, of great faith and had a genuine passion for gospel music. She and her late husband were well known for their bluegrass style of gospel music. In their earlier years they spent countless hours singing and playing for revivals and various church services. “Sister Kat” as she was affectionately called among her church family dedicated most of her life and took great pride in her service to the Lord in church services as well as raising her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as cooking, and playing the guitar. She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Christ Cathedral Church of God of America of Frankfort and was also a former member of Harvest-Time Ministries of Georgetown. “Kat” was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; James “Jim” Sons, her Son; Tony Sons, a Daughter in Law; Donna Sons, Granddaughter; Christy Wilson and her Sisters; Anna Mae Sons, Faye Ferguson and Brenda Hughes and her Brother; Ed Vest.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories her devoted Sons; James “Jimmy” (Alicia) Sons, of Owenton, Kentucky, Randy (Regina) Sons of Georgetown, Kentucky, Johnny Sons of Sadieville, Kentucky and Chris (Willow) Sons of Lexington, Kentucky, her devoted Daughters; Mary (Billy) Sharp, and Lisa (Brian) Perry all of Owenton, Kentucky, eighteen Grandchildren; Jamie (Patricia) Sons, Shannon Sons, Rodney Sons, Shauna Sons, Anthony Sons, Bobby Adams, Marie (Eddie) Kays, Shannon (Mark) Shell, Michael Way, Kayla (Vince) Emler, Michael (Paula) Perry, Brittany Sons, Chelsea Sons, Cameron Sons, Dwayne Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Trey Lewis, and Tucker Lewis, 28 Great-Grandchildren, two Sisters; Evalina (Johnny Ray) Jones of Georgetown and Naomi (Pastor Melvin) Harrison of Booneville, Mississippi and her Brother; Johnny Hoskins of Georgetown, Kentucky along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be begin at 10:00 a. m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Victory Tabernacle Church of God at 515 E. Washington Street, Georgetown, Kentucky with the Funeral Services immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Bishop Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, Kentucky.
Jimmy Sons, Randy Sons, Johnny Sons, Chris Sons, Anthony Sons and Mike Perry will honor their Mother and Grandmother by serving as Active Pallbearers,
