Chris “Pops” Stevens, age 64 of Somerset, passed from this life on Friday, July 7, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Stevens was born on August 17, 1952 in Tell City, Indiana, son of the late Edward Stevens and the late Bertilla Stevens Everly. He was of the Christian faith and attended the Victory Christian Fellowship. During his free time, Mr. Stevens loved watching his boys play baseball and fishing. He loved his family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren. He worked as a manager at Kroger for 35 plus years. After retirement, he worked at Burnside Island where he enjoyed mowing and grounds keeping. He graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1970.              

He was survived by his wife whom he joined in marriage on August 20, 1971 in Earlingon, Kentucky;JoAnne Tucker Stevens, two sons; Jason (Natasha Fulkner) Stevens and Jeff (Barbi) Stevens both of Somerset, one daughter; Sarah (Travis) Phelps of Nancy, one brother; Daniel Everly of Bowling Green, three sisters; Suzanne (Michael) Hufnagel of Little Rock, Arkansas, Edana LeRoy of Bowling Green, and Jennifer Hardesty of Madisonville, Kentucky, one former brother-in-law; Jerry Hardesty of Madisonville, Kentucky, 11 grandchildren; Olivia, Owen, Hunter, Dylan, Brock, Bryson, Emma, Christopher, Ali, Maddie, and Mason.

Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his parents; Edward Stevens and Bertilla Stevens Everly, one step-father; William “Bill” Everly.

Mr. Stevens will be missed by all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be held at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 5:00 PM with funeral services to follow on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
