William “Bill” Wesley, age 65, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on October 8, 1951 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, son of Elizabeth Jean Dobbs Wesley of Somerset and the late William Paul Wesley.
Bill was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Somerset High School and graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. He was a member of the Somerset First United Methodist Church, where he married his wife; Cathy Tarter Wesley on December 20, 1976. He served his country during the Vietnam Era in the United States Air Force and after returning home he became of member of the American Legion Post 38 where he served as an Honor Guard. Bill was the owner and operator of Paul Wesley Accounting Company of Somerset and became an enrolled agent in 1984. He was inducted into the National Society of Public Accountants in 1988, was an active member of the Accountancy and Taxation Inc., Kentucky Association of Accountants and the National Association of Tax Practitioners, He has been a Kentucky Colonel since 2003. Bill enjoyed LIFE period and spending time with his many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father William Paul Wesley who was the founder and previous owner/operator of the Paul Wesley Accounting Company.
Bill is survived by his Mother; Elizabeth Jean Dobbs Wesley of Somerset, his wife Cathy Tarter Wesley, daughter; Heather Michelle Wesley McKee and her husband Christopher Douglas McKee of Somerset, Sister; Theresa and (Geoffrey) Bowling of Covington, Kentucky, Brothers in law; Rick and (Tammy) Boyer of Somerset, Christopher and (Tara) Bolen Of Somerset, Sisters in Law; Gwendolyn and (Therman) Davidson of Leslie County, Kentucky and Brenda and (Danny) Miller of Somerset, his grandchildren; William Tanner and Wesley Tucker McKee, a special niece; Jessica Miller Hibbard, as well as several other nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends along with his special dogs; Sammy and Toby.
The family will gather at 4:00 p.m. and public visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Funeral Services on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Brother Teddy Brooks Officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul “Pops” Hughes, Lloyd Russell, Dan Miller, Tanner McKee, Tony Brooks, Jason Senters, Donnie Glover, Stan Wyatt and Tucker McKee. The Community Room is reserved at the Funeral Home for a friends and family fellowship, provided the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 38.
Interment will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legions Post #38 or the Gideon’s Memorial Bible Plan in memory of William Bill Wesley.
