James R. Rutherford, 91 of Ferguson, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Pulaski County native, he was born December 16, 1925, son of the late Robert and Rosa Calhoun Rutherford.  He was a very faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Somerset, where he enjoyed working for the Lord.  He was a former co-owner with his son of Rutherford’s Used Cars.  Mr. Rutherford was a WWII Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and received several honors

He is survived by his three children; Jim (Linda) Rutherford of Ferguson, Linda (Jackie) Hansford of Ferguson, Cheryl (Gary) Sears of Somerset, one step-daughter ; Marge Belodeau of Ohio.  Five grandchildren; Sharon (Jim) Griffin, Michael Rutherford, Scott (Dana) Hansford, Angela (Danny) Baker, and Brian Sears.  Four great-grandchildren; Whitney Griffin, Blakeley Griffin, Victor Hansford, Aaron Baker.  Six brothers; William C. Rutherford, Dan Rutherford, Paul Rutherford, Gale Rutherford, Glen Rutherford, Tony Rutherford.  Seven sisters; Ruth Hines, Wanda Raines, Betty Jo Stock, Barbara Bland, Carol Hines, Opal Rainey and Relada Merrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and mother of his children, Juanita Wheeler Rutherford, his second wife; Ethel Chaney Rutherford, two infant daughters; Patricia Anne Rutherford, Brenda Kay Rutherford. Three sisters; Mattie Lou Akin, Ilene Mapes, and June Marks, and a brother Steve Rutherford.

The family will receive friends at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 until time for the Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Frank Chovan officiating.  Interment will be in the Ringgold Cemetery.
