Lloyd S. Girdler, age 78, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Unit of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Lloyd was born on August 26, 1938 in the city of Somerset, KY, to the late Sanford Perkins and Violet Elizabeth Lowe Girdler.
Lloyd was a member of Saline Church of God, where also served as an usher. He enjoyed camping, being outdoors and being on the lake. He also enjoyed going to Florida and spending time on the beach. Lloyd was fondly known as “Smiley” to his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Haste Girdler, whom he married 57 years ago on January 3, 1959 in Pensacola, FL; daughter, Janie (and Peter) Dubuisson, of Humboldt, TN; brother, Edward (and Mary) Akin, of Somerset; sisters, Glenda (and Darrel) Wilson, of Somerset, Wanda Leatherberry, of Pensacola, FL, and Gayla (and Tom) Reyer, of Somerset; grandchildren, Chad Wesley (and Juliette) Dubuisson, and Laura Danielle (and Lee) Davis; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Alexander Davis, Sarah Elizabeth Davis, and Jax Snyder.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Thomas Girdler, Amos Akin and Junior Girdler; his sisters, Francis Dugger and his twin sister, Lois Ann Ragel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 after 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Harold Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Dubuisson, Lee Davis, Teddy Wilson, Kenney Eaton, Peter Dubuisson and Greg Humphrey.
