Noah E. Poynter, age 94, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his home.

He was born on January 6, 1923 in the Elgen Community to the late Luther Amos and Laura Colyer Poynter.

Noah was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon. He was the oldest living member there. Noah was a Veteran of the United States Army. He and his wife were two of the founding members who helped start one of the Pulaski County Farmers Market.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta McWilliams Poynter; son, Robert (and Dalene) Poynter, of Woodstock; daughter, Carolyn (and Jerry) Farmer of Woodstock; grandchildren, Christa (and John) Christenbury, Melinda (and Anthony) Flynn, Angela Farmer and Lucas (and Ashley) Poynter; great-grandchildren, Stefania, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Amie, Maddox, Acey, Abbie, Adria, Ansley and Julia; great-great grandchildren, Oliver and Xander.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ottis Poynter and Clarence Poynter; sisters, Etta Howard and Cella Smithern.

Visitation will be held on Monday February 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with funeral services to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Brian Plants officiating.

Burial will follow in the Woodstock Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
