David Johnson, age 70, of Somerset, passed from this life on January 21, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

David was born on September 18, 1946, Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Benjamin and Mary Jaynes Johnson. He was a retired Control Tech with Central Parking in New York. David was a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army. He resided in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey then retired to Somerset, KY. David enjoyed fishing, hiking, looking for arrowheads and electronics.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Neeley Johnson whom he married on October 6, 1980 in Greencastle, Indiana; sons, Benjamin Johnson, Indiana, Frank (and Tina) Price, of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey; daughters, Angie (and Nathan) Bowman, of Cape Coral, Florida; Tammie (and David) Haller, of Greencastle, Indiana, Lauri (and Kelly) Cooney, Cape Coral, Florida; sisters, Becky (and Luther) Spear, of Glasgow, Kentucky, Billie Jo (and Merle) Smith, of Glasgow, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kimberly Bowman, Paige Bowman, Drakken, Elizzabeth, Erikka, Noah Johnson, Amanda, Brittany, Kelley, Michael Cooney, James Price, Jessica Velez, Courtney Price; two great grandchildren, Vincent, Dominic and several nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gus Johnson and grandson, Sean Patrick Cooney.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 38 Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Southern Oaks Cemetery, Somerset, KY.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to American Heart Association or Kidney Foundation.
